We got a lot of feedback that cooler colors were a better fit for the echocave than the warmer shades of orange and brown we currently have. So I designed a color palette that would bring the echocave to its right and applied it.

Experiments

First I experimented on what I wanted to be the primary color by changing the echolocation shader color. After I made a couple of variations I asked my team for feedback. They seemed to like the blue ripples the most. They were a bit divided however on the intensity of the blue. Some members wanted everything blue, while others wanted transparent blue ripples that would still allow the environment to have colors of their own. In the end I went with that, and I recolored every object in the scene.

Final palette

I went with a majority of blue tints because that gave a cool and perhaps lonely feeling that worked quite well with the echolocation effect. In contrast to that, I sparingly used red and magenta tints for objects of interest, such as the bubbles that the player can pop. That way it catches their eye quicker.
